Kyle C. Hansen
Associate
Kyle Hansen is a business and commercial litigation attorney who practices in the firm’s Litigation and Trial Practice group. His practice focuses primarily on complex commercial litigation in both state and federal court. He has experience representing individuals, universities, financial institutions and large companies in a variety of matters involving complex class action disputes, business and commercial litigation, and breach of fiduciary duty claims arising under ERISA. In addition, Kyle has worked on behalf of a cryptocurrency exchange to resolve a third-party dispute over contested digital tokens, and on behalf of other entities and individuals involved in the cryptocurrency space to resolve litigation and non-litigation matters.
Prior to joining McNaul Ebel, Kyle was a litigation associate with the New York law firm of Proskauer Rose LLP, where he focused primarily on high-stakes class action litigation involving claims arising under ERISA against high-profile individuals, Ivy League universities and Fortune 500 companies. He also represented corporate clients in connection with Department of Labor investigations.
Kyle graduated summa cum laude from the University of Mississippi School of Law, earning his J.D. and two honors diplomas in the areas of Space & Aviation Law and Business Law. During law school, he won the North American Championship at the International Manfred Lachs Space Law Moot Court Competition, also winning best brief. He represented North America at the world competition and finished as runner-up. He also served as an associate editor for the University of Mississippi Law Journal and as the senior editor for the Journal of Space Law, which is circulated internationally.
Prior to law school, Kyle graduated cum laude and with honors from Claremont McKenna College, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy and Legal Studies while playing NCAA football and track and field. Kyle is a Seattle native.

- Represented Fortune 500 company in class action litigation involving breach of fiduciary duty claims in federal court. Successfully negotiated a favorable settlement before trial.
- Successfully defended major financial services company against writ of mandamus petition in U.S. Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals.
- Obtained a favorable settlement during mediation on behalf of national aerospace company facing breach of fiduciary duty claims.
- Prevailed on summary judgment on behalf of international corporation against breach of fiduciary duty and denial of benefits claims under ERISA.
- Guided large investment bank through Department of Labor investigation, resulting in a no-action letter.
